Whistling Whale Coffee Co. started in 2020. What began as a hobby fuelled by passion and caffeination, became a small family-run business. Chad and Breanne believe that coffee is a morning ritual and an afternoon pick me up, meant to be savoured and shared and what better way to share it than with our community. We source high quality beans - mostly organic and fair trade, and many which are sourced from women's co-ops from coffee growing regions such as Colombia, Peru and Ethiopia.We began roasting on a tiny one-pound roaster in 2020. After lots of trial and error and countless hours of reading, we started to develop a special set of skills in our craft, and the coffee was tasting great. This was a fun and rewarding hobby we shared together. With great coffee came great, loyal customers. Juggling jobs, a big blended family, and a roaster that was only roasting one pound at a time, it quickly began to consume every free moment we had. Things needed to change, and today we operate on a full sized commercial grade coffee roaster where we were able to meet the demand of our existing customers and develop an entirely new customer base up and down Vancouver Island. This hobby has transformed into what is known today as Whistling Whale Coffee Company which was officially founded in May, 2022 in Ladysmith, BC.
Fast forward to spring of 2023 and we purchased our little coffee trailer, the perfect addition to our home-based coffee roastery.
